Troy and Tammy of TnT coffee roasters sent me their contribution to the Home Roast Exchange. This is my first time participating and won’t be the last.

I received an Ethiopian Guji from Kayon Mt, and a Guatemalan Candaleria from Huehuetanango. They provided a roasted sample as well as some green beans of both coffees. They included a nice info sheet from Genuine Origin who sourced the beans. I enjoyed reading about the farms and the practices they use.

Both were roasted to full city+ with a bit of oil beginning to show on some of the beans. I brewed them in a chemex at a 16-1 ratio of water to ground coffee.

Ethiopian: Ground coffee had a very rich strong aroma, very pleasing. Cup had a rich body with a light but very pleasing bittersweet taste/feel at the back of the palate. Blueberry notes were easily identified. Sweetness came out as the coffee cooled a bit. This cup helped to welcome the day in my usual pre-dawn hot tub session and was a delightful way to start the day. I am looking forward to roasting the greens and seeing if I can coax out a bit more of the blueberries with a lighter roast.

Guat: I love Guatemalan coffee in general and especially Huehues. This one didn’t disappoint. A smoother mellower body than the Ethiopian with sweet tropical fruits emerging as the cup cooled. This cup was on my desk this morning as I finished up my 2018 tax returns and took the sting out of what I am going to have to pay at 11:59pm on April 15th.

Thanks Troy and Tammy for some tasty coffee and some nice greens to play around with. So be sure to order your Fresh Roasted Coffee at TnT Coffee Roasters Today! –>
