Choices!

Well we at TnT Coffee Roasters have been very busy with preparations for Spring and transition. With spring comes new life! We are excited to announce a few choices to our customers. We currently have three coffees available for you to choose!

We have added another Ethiopian favorite from the Sidamo region. This coffee comes from Oromia Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union (OCFCU). A group of small-farmers owned cooperative union which has members from all coffee growing areas in Oromia regional state. The Union pays 70% of its net profit back to the cooperatives, who in turn pay 70% of their profit to the member farmers. Farmers benefit by being paid three times in one season, allowing for greater stability. This strategy of support has enabled OCFCU to grow from 34 primary cooperatives representing 22,691 household farmers to 217 primary cooperatives representing 200,000 household farmers.

What is amazing is when you purchase coffee from TnT Coffee Roasters you are supporting this Union of farmers who have the same passion for coffee as we do here in little ole Texas.

Another we are trying out is from Honduras. Today, more than 100,000 families across Honduras are involved in coffee production. 95% of these are small-scale farmers and 70% farm on fewer than 2 hectares (representing some 30% of the country’s total production). The vast majority of farmers (95% or more) rely on family labour for all aspects of agricultural and harvest labour. Perhaps most notable (and unusual for Central America, where an aging population presents real challenges to long-term sustainability for coffee), the average age of producers in Honduras is falling. With an average of 46 years old, the composite Honduran coffee farmer is 10 years younger than they were 10 years ago. Barring the Benjamin Button effect, several factors have aligned in keeping younger people in coffee, including investment and promotion in accessing speciality markets.

This is where TnT Coffee Roasters comes into play! Yes you are apart of supporting the Honduran Families with every purchase! Our Honduran coffee comes from a couple who has taken out the middle man and has established relationships with the farmers.

As you can see I am very excited to bring these coffees to you! Take your time and read more about each coffee and the countries they come from.

Until next time! Have a blessed week!
